The Shaker Heights Youth Center (SHYC) underwent a comprehensive strategic planning process with
Janus Small and Associates. The focal point of the strategic planning process was the development of
a vision for SHYC in three – five years. The consultant undertook Board and staff surveys, interviews
about SHYC with community leaders and committee planning meetings. The Strategic Planning
Committee made up of Board, staff, and community members reviewed all input gathered from
interviews and surveys and met in full committee meetings and subcommittee meetings from July
2025 – January 2026. The following is a comprehensive look at the mission, vision, and goals the
committee developed.
